Giants

Giants [Gigantes] - They were produced when the blood from the mutilation of Ouranos by Cronos fell upon Gaea who gathered the blood from which many years later arose monstrous giants fully armed with flashing weapons. The giants some times were visualized as men of exceptional physical strength and height, and other times as beings with frightening features with long beards and hair and legs covered with scales of a serpent. They warred against the Olympian gods but were defeated and destroyed in the end thanks to the help of the deities received from Heracles. The most formidable of the giants was Typhoeus. Other giants were Alcyoneus, Porphyrion, Pallas, and Polybotes. [Kyriazis, Constantine D. Eternal Greece. Translated by Harry T. Hionides. A Chat Publication. p.85]
