Alkyd Resin Medium - Supports and Grounds - Equipment and Tools - Painting Procedures - Protection of the Picture

Canvas prepared with oil priming or acrylic gesso priming can be used for alkyd painting, as can rigid supports such as Masonite or wood panels that have been prepared with glue gesso. A primer made of titanium pigment and alkyd binder is available from Winsor and Newton [see documents on Supports and Grounds or page 109 in the book] , and it provides and excellent surface for alkyd painting on cotton or linen fabric or on rigid supports such as Masonite.
