Color Comparison

Three methods in use for evaluating color differences:

An experienced person can evaluate color properties by observation alone with sufficent accuracy to serve many practical purposes. The use of color charts, cards, and swatches is widesperead. But because color is a subjective phenomenon, total accuracy and precise results can be obtained only by laboratory measurement. In recent years electronic circuits have been used instead of the human eye to observe the results of such measurement. [p. 90]
