Alcohol - Denatured Alcohol


It is ethyl alcohol made unfit for drinking by additions of a variety of materials, but these additions may also spoil the alcohol for use as a solvent for varnishes. However, some denatured alcohols sold as shellac thinners are usable in the studio for varnish solvents. [p. 42]
